The video transfer handles the Angel battles beautifully—the reds and blues in Unit-02's fight scenes really pop on my TV. Mari's introduction adds such a chaotic energy that I couldn't look away for a single second.

I was honestly not expecting the story to go where it did—Mari's entrance alone flips the energy of the whole film, and the audio mix on this Blu-ray makes every fight scene feel like it’s happening in my living room. The extras are a nice bonus, too.

The 2.22 Blu-ray is a massive step up in picture and sound—the rebuild's action scenes hit so much harder in HD, and the new plot twists make it feel completely fresh even if you've seen the original series. I've watched it three times already, and it's the best version of this film I've seen.
