Blue Giant [Blu-ray]

I was glued to the screen from the very first saxophone note in Sendai. The picture quality is so crisp you can see every bead of sweat on the keys during the Tokyo performances, and the story of his relentless daily practice really pulled me in.

The audio mix on this disc is fantastic, you can really feel the raw energy of Miyamoto’s sax practice sessions filling the room. It’s a beautiful story about chasing jazz in Tokyo, and the picture quality is clean enough to make the sweat on his brow pop.

The transfer really brings out the warmth of the sax and the quiet emotion in Miyamoto's journey from Sendai. I've watched it twice already and the audio mix on the Tokyo club scenes pulls you right in, like you're sitting at the bar.
