GKIDS proudly presents the highly-anticipated new film from director Makoto Shinkai and producer Genki Kawamura, the creative team behind the critically-acclaimed, global smash hit Your Name. The summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hodaka meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong-willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…

    Timothy ★★★★★

The collector's edition packaging is gorgeous and feels substantial, with the 4K disc delivering an audio experience that makes the rain and city sounds almost immersive. I've watched it twice already and the scene where Hina first clears the sky in 4K is the kind of moment you buy a physical copy f

The 4K transfer is stunning—the rain scenes in Tokyo have so much depth and clarity that it feels like watching the film for the first time again. The collector's packaging is sturdy and looks great on the shelf, and the included Blu-ray copy is a nice bonus for when I'm not using the UHD player.

    Scarlett ★★★★★

The packaging alone is worth it for fans—the slipcase and art cards feel premium, and the 4K disc's HDR really makes the rain scenes pop with that signature Shinkai glow. I've watched it three times already and notice something new in the background detail each viewing.
